Event Radio Rental Questions
The licensing question comes up first almost every time, so it is answered first.
Do I need a TDRA licence to rent walkie talkies in the UAE?
You do not need to hold a licence yourself. Secura Telecom is a TDRA-certified supplier and we handle the permit process for your event as part of the rental, so your radios are compliant from the moment they are delivered. It is the first thing overseas organisers ask us about, and it is not something you need to manage.
Are your radios TDRA approved?
Yes. Every radio we supply for events is TDRA-approved equipment from professional manufacturers including Motorola and Hytera, configured and programmed by our own team before it leaves us.
Can you provide radios anywhere in the UAE?
Yes. We deliver and support events across all seven emirates, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain, as well as events that move between multiple sites.
Can you provide radios for ADNEC and DWTC events?
Yes. We are an approved service provider at major UAE venues and have deployed at ADNEC, DWTC, Madinat Jumeirah, Coca-Cola Arena, EXPO and Yas Island. We already know how these venues behave for radio coverage.
How many radios do I need for my event?
It depends more on how your teams are structured than on headcount. As a guide, every supervisor, security position, production lead and control room operator needs a radio. Send us your team structure and we will give you a number and a channel plan.
What is the range of your event radios?
Handset-to-handset range depends on the venue. Across an exhibition hall or hotel, digital radios deployed with a repeater give reliable coverage across the whole site including basements and back of house. For events spread across a city or multiple sites, we deploy a wide-area system with no practical distance limit.
Can different teams have separate channels?
Yes. Security, production, logistics, guest services, parking and VIP teams each get their own talkgroup, so they are not listening to traffic that has nothing to do with them. We can also set up cross-team and broadcast channels for when everyone needs to hear the same instruction.
Can you provide earpieces with every radio?
Yes, and every earpiece is new. Each user gets a fresh noise-cancelling wired earpiece for your event, never a used one. Boom headsets and remote speaker microphones are available where the environment is louder or staff need faster access.
How long do the batteries last?
Our standard event batteries are rated for around 20 hours of typical event use, and every radio is delivered fully charged. For multi-day events we supply spare batteries and charging on site so nothing goes flat mid-shift.
Can you provide repeaters for large venues?
Yes. Repeaters are how we guarantee coverage at larger venues. We size and position them from a survey of your site. Where a venue needs more than handsets and a repeater, we add antennas and links.
Can you track radio users?
Yes. User tracking is available so your control room can see where assigned radio users are operating across the site, which matters for large open venues and mass participation events.
Can radio conversations be recorded?
Yes. Voice recording logs can be enabled so radio traffic is retained for operational review, incident reporting and accountability after the event.
Can you provide radios for concerts and festivals?
Yes. Concerts and festivals are among the most common events we supply. Stage, front of house, barrier, medical, security and crowd management teams are each given their own talkgroup, with priority traffic reserved for the control room.
How early should I book event radios?
Earlier is better for large fleets, particularly in peak season and around the major exhibitions. We do hold stock for short-notice events though, and we regularly deliver large fleets within days. If your event is soon, call us rather than waiting.
